Dr. Yann Alix

Dr. Yann Alix has been General Delegate of the SEFACIL Foundation since 2011, where he leads an international strategic think tank on the challenges related to the future of maritime transport, ports and logistics. A recognised specialist in the sector, he has headed the Port Institute for Education and Research (IPER) and the logistics department of the NBS. He is closely involved in several port training projects in Africa, including the Port Authority of Le Havre.
With a PhD in transport geography (University of Caen) and a PhD from Concordia University in Canada, he began his career as a consultant in maritime innovation. He is the author of more than 200 lectures given in four languages, numerous scientific publications and professional reports.
Dr. Alix is also the founder of the collections Les Océanides and Afrique Atlantique, which brings together reference works on maritime and port dynamics, particularly in Africa. His latest book, Maritime and Port Short Stories – From Africa Only (Vol. 2), was published in 2023.
His current work focuses on corporate strategies, land logistics and trade corridors, with a particular interest in port-city relationships in Africa and South America.
