DR. URBAIN THIBAUTHÉON AARON SONAGNON BRITO

Doctor in Quality Control, Audit and Sustainable Development, Dr. BRITO has more than 20 years of experience in the field of fisheries, the environment and the governance of fisheries resources. Since January 2023, he has held the position of Director of Fisheries Production of Benin, where he leads public policies in fisheries and aquaculture, with a strong focus on sanitary inspection, traceability and the fight against illegal fishing.

Internationally, Dr. BRITO actively represents his country in strategic forums. He is Vice-President of the International Whaling Commission, Vice-President Africa for the implementation of the AMREP (FAO), and has served on the Board of Directors of the INTERPOL Global Working Group on Fisheries-Related Crime.

A recognized trainer, author of scientific publications and specialist in HACCP/ISO standards, he has supported several public and private projects related to the quality, hygiene and sustainability of fishing chains. He has also contributed to the drafting of laws and decrees governing the fisheries sector in Benin.

Dr. BRITO will speak at the CAPBLEU Forum 2025 as an expert on fisheries governance, traceability and maritime diplomacy in French-speaking Africa.
